WSOP & playing poker...

Day 1: We arrived in Las Vegas for July 4th.  Dennis' birthday is on Saturday, the 7th, so we decided to come to Vegas to try our luck with 777 (7-7-2007).  Many brides & grooms and other gamblers were sure to be there to try their luck, too. After we arrived, met up with Dennis' parents (who retired here), we rested up from our flight.

They took us to the Rio to see some of the WSOP (world series of poker) tournaments going on.

We didn't expect to see many players in one session or be able to take pictures - but we did!! We met many players we usually see playing on tv or have read about!! Guess which top poker players we spoke with?????  I'll post pix real soon!! Oh well, who needed fireworks anyways?

Day 2: In the morning we decided to play in a poker tournament at South Point, a casino south of the strip, with a decent buy-in.  I was a little nervous being in Vegas at an 'official' game playing against strangers.  But I was having fun once the game got started and I took a few good pots.  Dennis & I usually sit at different tables to see if we can end up at the same table later.  I ended up in the last 2 tables (with a south point hat as my prize from one of the pots!).  Not bad, I did beat out Dennis... (hee!!)

Later that day we went back to Rio to catch more of the tournaments along with a charity event with celebrities.  It was an event held by Don Cheedle and Annie Duke and they had MANY stars joining them!!!  It was exciting to see all these celebs playing at one time: Matt Damon, Adam Sandler, Ray Ramano...  These were just a few of them.  I'll post pix so you can see who else we saw!!!
